It’s Now on CDN

Putting Mad Tea Party on CDN or any other cache servers have been on the back burner for the longest time. And for the first time since its inception, and frankly thanks to free tier services available, Mad Tea Party is now using CDN. It won’t drastically change the experience for the readers; perhaps some European traffic may be able to see the benefit. Other than that, I just wanted to see how free tier CDN operates.

One of the main reasons why CDN had been placed at the bottom of the to-do list was because how I was running this website —it’s mostly text, aside from the visual aids in featured images. I rarely use any other forms of media extensively, and if I need to, I often resort to, say, YouTube, for uploading videos or other respective interactive platforms. There are ways to write and document posts on WordPress and serve them palatable to the readers. To put it bluntly, that’s how most blog services work.

What changed since then is, yet again, the traffic. About half of the traffic is from the U.S. where my hosting service is primarily targeted for, and the other half is from Europe. No doubt the website itself was still serviceable, —it’s at worst few seconds— but given that most readers would finish reading a post within a minute and leave, that few seconds quickly amounts to significant part of the experience.

So, once again, The Mad Tea Party is now served through CDN, free tier CDN. The one offered through the hosting service is QUIC.cloud, but upon reading about what web developers think of its service, most simply said, if your hosting service supports one, no need to not make most of it. I intend to do just that for the time being.
